Professional treatment for excessive sweating

When attending your appointment at one our clinics, you will be assessed by a physician and treated on the same day for your convenience.

If you suffer from sweaty armpits (axillary hyperhidrosis), then localised treatment with ultra-fine needles using a well known medication can be conducted. If you suffer from hyperhidrosis in another region then, after assessment, a treatment plan will be formed which may include localised treatment with ultra-fine needles, iontophoresis or medication.

PBS listed anti-hyperhidrosis treatment

Unfortunately we can't name the injected medication because the TGA prohibits the marketing of any prescription medications. However many studies of the injected medication have been conducted and it is currently the next line treatment for axillary hyperhidrosis after high dose aluminium antiperspirant. It acts by blocking the nerve signals to the sweat glands and lasts around 6 months.

Are there potential side effects?

One of the main benefits is that it has minimal side effects compared with the more invasive surgical procedures such as endoscopic transthoracic sympathetic nerve ablation. Rarely, patients might perceive an increase in non-axillary sweating or experience some initial discomfort at the injection sites.

What costs are involved?

Armpits / underarms (axillary hyperhidrosis)

The cost of the medication we use is now covered and the consultation and treatment costs are covered by Medicare provided you have already tried using a clinical-strength antiperspirant. Learn more about the Medicare Rebates.

Hands and feet (palmar and plantar hyperhidrosis)

Face (cranofacial hyperhidrosis) and other body regions

Why are you much cheaper than cosmetic clinics?

Cosmetic clinics often charge over $1000 for treatment. The government has recently announced that it will cover the cost of the injectable medication for axillary hyperhidrosis if the procedure is conducted by a neurologist. Given our clinic is physician-led, the consultation and procedure are also rebatable through Medicare.
